I'm performing a piece devised with Sara Jane Munford for the duration festival at Glasshouse.
Drawing from Carolee Schneemann's use of the body as a tool for painting, this performance piece extends her method to sculpture. Using our bodies as our tools and the medium of porcelain as a conduit, we explore trauma to the body, the (female) body as a vessel, self care, and care for each other. The female body is often characterized as a container, but by using ours to mold the clay around us, we insist on taking up space and leaving physical evidence.
