Hold Water Ceramics is for me.

Hold Water Ceramics is an exploration of form and material over function. It’s a practice in slowing down. It’s an ongoing anti-Capitalist project that challenges me to go deeper into the craft and shirk pressures to be versatile, to commodify, to prioritize profit and production. What I Do

I make one of a kind objects.

I make series and then I retire them.

I put care and thought into each object.

I bring play and curiosity to this practice.

I deliberately challenge expectations of productivity and the false functional vs. art dichotomy.

What I don’t do

I do not make duplicates or sets.

I do not take custom orders.

I do not do wholesale.

I don’t tell you what the object is or is for.

You set the intention of the object.

I believe…

I believe that clay puts me in conversation with all generations past, present, and future.

I believe that art doesn’t need to ‘work.’

I believe that I need to feel safe in order to play.

I believe in authenticity over versatility.
